Take our Daughters & Sons to Work Day

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is April 17, 2014

April 17, 2014, is Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS).  This year’s theme is "Plant a Seed, Grow a Future."

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is an annual event, for students between the ages of 8 and 18, sponsored by the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation. With parental approval, students can participate by visiting a particular workplace of a parent, guardian, adult relative or adult family friend.

Nationally, the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is April 24, 2014, which falls during state mandated FCAT testing. The District will observe the National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, April 17, 2014, making it possible for all eligible students to participate.

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is designed to assist students in formulating some ideas about future career paths. A day at work will heighten the aspirations of students, helping them to make the connection between academic success and success in the world of work. BCPS joins the national campaign to provide opportunities for parents and other adults to showcase their places of employment, explain their job responsibilities, introduce their co-workers, and present the various career choices that are available in the workplace.

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day has inspired a future generation of girls and boys by helping to bring them into the workplace to explore the many life choices they have. Whether you work for a large corporation, own a small business, police the streets, or teach at a university, you can impact a child’s life by exposing them to new ideas and opportunities.

Students participating in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day must complete the Student Log and Activity Form (Located in Main Office). School Activity Packets for students who participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day are available at schools and on the Career, Technical, Adult and Community Education’s website (http://ctace.browardschools.com/ImportantMemos.aspx).
